Santini Cycling and Polartec have joined forces to create a unique waterproof jacket featuring a highly breathable monolithic membrane and a Durable Water Repellent treatment (DWR).
Completely thermo-sealed and wear-resistant, the Santini Magic rain jacket features:
The 100% recycled polyester Polartec Power Shield RPM fabric is waterproof, non-PFAS, lightweight, and extremely stretchable, and, as such, represents a significant development as the outdoor industry makes a well-documented shift to new materials with reduced environmental impact during manufacturing, as well as seeking to reduce the end product’s total carbon footprint.
Polartec Power Shield RPM is one such fabric, featuring “a highly durable non-PFAS coating to repel precipitation and has a 10,000 mm hydrostatic head to keep external moisture out”.
In addition to the material innovation, the fabric also delivers what the brand points to as “industry-leading breathability spec of 30,000g/m2/24hrs.”
Arguably as importantly, Power Shield RPM addresses one of the biggest problems for competitive cyclists: underperformance due to overheating – with the launch announcement stating “up to 50% less compared to other Polartec membranes” – as a headline performance statement.
As users of high-end performance fabrics have come to expect, have come to expect, stretch from the membrane fabric also provides a full range of motion on the bike – something designers work with to ensure minimal loose fabric causing wind flap, resulting in increasing drag.
The Magic jacket has a double front zipper making it possible to open from both the bottom and the top, a high collar for maximum protection from wind and rain, and a reflective Santini logo on the back ensuring visibility and safety during darker hours.
At launch the Magic jacket is available in black, in all Santini stores, and exclusively at the VIA store in London, as well as online at santinicycling.com, with the recommended retail price of £190.
Spring/Summer 2025 collection release will see additional colour variants introduced, and a sleeveless version launched.
